The goals of this project are to compile and analyze references and information of conservation-related international conventions, i.e. the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD), the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES), the Ramsar Convention on Wetland (Ramsar) and major international conservation NGOs, i.e. the World Conservation Union (IUCN), World-Wide Fund for Nature (WWF), Birdlife International and TRAFFIC, as well as the leading countries (such as the US, Canada, Australia, Japan and EU) on the conservation and management of aquatic and marine biological resources, regarding their organization and management, and the trend and development on the policies and actions relevant to conservation of aquatic plants and animals, as well as marine biodiversity, so as to provide relevant agencies in Taiwan with recommendations on the institutional organization and structure, as well as policies and strategy of conservation and management on aquatic and marine biodiversity and resources. |
