There are 44 lawful aquaculture districts, with a total area of 13,482 hectares, in Taiwan. The demand water of fish pond almost supplied from tidal ditch , vicinity creek or groundwater, besides three districts, Chiaohsi, Xialun and Beishiliao, where water supplied already by public system of sea water.

The issues such as polluted water equality, land subsidence, flood and fish disease cause the recession of Taiwan’s aquaculture, and are not conductive to the sustainable development in aquaculture. The project is going to analysis the correlation coefficient between related aquaculture indicators and environmental impact factors, and is going to survey based on ”economic output contributions”, “social function contributions”, as well as “environment and ecology contributions”. Thus, we can rank aquaculture districts by their functions. Those districts which have bad performance will be reviewed for improving their functions.

Nevertheless, the project is going to invest and analysis the flood-control ability of aquaculture districts, including “drainage measures”, “hydrologic frequency analysis”, ” drainage assessment in pond area “and so on. The research will be conducted in serious flooding area such as Kouhu Town in Yulin County and Jiadung Town in Pingtung County.Storm scenario analysis will be simulated in order to find problems that cause flooding. The strategy for flood migration and drainage improvement will be made as reference for Fisheries Agency. |
