This project investigates some chemical parameters in the sea water and sediment of two offshore fish farms (cobia, grouper, and sea bream) at Penghu Island, Taiwan from April to December, 2011. Samples will be collected from underneath the cages, and at a control station, and then analysed for sea temperature, DO, salinity, pH, BOD, TN (total nitrogen, inorganic) TP (total phosphorus), sulfide, pH (sediment) and ORP (sediment). The aim of this study is to assess the impact of a off shore cage farm for ongrowing marine fish on the sea water and sediments around and beneath the cages by estimating their physico-chemical parameters. |
