In December 26, 2004, the Indian Ocean tsunami caused by the strong earthquake changed into human tragedy within several hours and this also resulted in really huge damage on the local fishery resource. Is it possible that this kind of natural disaster can be prevented?
In the sailing or operation of our fishing vessel, sea casualties will happen due to operation ignorance or simple and crude navigational instrument. Especially due to insufficient communication equipment in the fishing industry and deficiency in acquiring meteorological information, the result is sea casualties due to this kind of force majeure. This research will conduct analysis on various sea casualties encountered by our fishing vessels in recent years and its reasons are explored. Then from the information of relevant emergency procedures internationally, this research will analyze the possibility of occurrence of tsunami in fishery operation area along the sea of our country. Finally, emergency procedures for fishing vessels during sea casualties and emergency plans during tsunami that should be available are studied so that possible disaster can be reduced to a minimum. For sailing of fishing vessel on the sea or along the coast, this research result can serve as a reference for all owners and fishermen. In addition, the best plan of sea casualties and tsunami emergency procedures is provided as well as suggestion to the government for administration. |
