Culture of freshwater clams, Corbicula sp. could be rivised and improved by setting up an addition nutritions and fermentated pond to provide food organics for clams in grow out pond. It is hoped that this circulating and water saving practices can bring about: 1. Reducing the operation cost and increasing the harvest as well as growth rate, then to shorten the culture period. 2. Having the use of water saving effect by 90% reduction and therefore protecting from local land depression. 3. Ensuring a clean aquatic environment due to less discharge of pond wastewater. 4. Reducing the nutrition and organic matter in the fermentation pond, thus it could be used as a part of culture pond to increase the fish by-product harvest. 5. This method can be used as one of the ecological engineering techniques to reduce the formation of water eutrophication in pond or reservoir. |
