In order to regulate the fishing raft fishery appropriately for Yunlin and Jiayi County, the fishery scale and type of fishing raft and catches data were used to analyze its construction and utilization status in this study. Also the questionnaire method which included operation status, revenue, cost and profit, assisting to change job, and sold-raft willing was carried out for this project.
The results indicated that the types of fishing raft fishery in Jiayi County could be divided into four categories: drift gill net, bull trawl, shrimp beam trawl with electrical stimulus facility and oyster mariculture. The most important fishing ports were Budai and Dongshi which the shrimp beam trawl and bull trawl were the main fishery for them, respectively. And the types of fishing raft fishery in Yunlin County could be divided into three categories: drift gill net, otter trawl and oyster mariculture. The most important fishing port was Bociliao.
The results from questionnaires and analysis of revenue cost and profit by fishery type showed that the highest profit among the fisheries was bull trawl in Dongshi area and the next highest profit of fishery was shrimp beam trawl in Budai area, then it was followed by shrimp beam trawl and drift gill net in Dongshi area, and drift gill net in Budai area, respectively. The lowest profit was occurred in drift gill net at Yunlin County. Meanwhile, the acceptance and willing of fishermen in both Counties for assisting them to transfer job and buying their rafts were also analyzed.
Finally, this study suggested that the trawlers in both Counties could establish the specific fishing area, found the Production and Marketing Team of local fishermen’s association, and set up the relevant management regulations by local governments in order to construct the management model for local area and maintenance the utilization of fish resources sustainability. |
