According to the instruction of Fisheries Agency, this council assist our tuna scientists, experts and scholars to participate in the stock assessment and fishery management meetings held by Regional Fishery Management Organizations (RFMOs) such as Inter-American Tropical Tuna Commission (IATTC), Western and Central Pacific Fisheries Commission (WCPFC), Commission for the Conservation of Southern Bluefin Tuna (CCSBT), Indian Ocean Tuna Commission (IOTC) and International Commission for the Conservation of Atlantic Tunas (ICCAT), for more involvements in the assessment and research of various tuna species and decision-making of management recommendations. Then they can offer correct information to our fishery authorities for making policies and to fishery industries for sustainable development. In addition, we can set up well communicative channel through actively participating in various conferences organized by RFMOs to supplement the work of the government. |
