Due to small founder stock of the Nile tilapia, proper pedigree breeding is required in order to avoid inbreeding and restore as much genetic variable as possible. At present the broodstock was kept without proper pedigree record. It is likely that mixing between offspring of different families occurred in several stocks. Therefore, there is an urgent need to identify full-sib families of the brooders and make a proper breeding plan to avoid genetic deterioration of the stock. The present study, we found a microsatellite locus, CAPII01, could distinguish the breeding family. The fast- growth individual are a heterozygotes (188/186) in CAPII01 locus, but the smallest individuals are homozygotes. |
