This program is planning to develop a service system which integrates voyage data, catch data, and the data of fishing ground environment. By providing all kinds of information of inshore fishing ground around Taiwan, the Fishery Agency could have a better accordance and support to make fishery policy and to manage fishery. Following are the items we plan to go through, and there are 5 of them:
1.?Establish a voyage database: Establish a voyage database which could automatically identify the working area, and provides different kinds of searching and filtering options.
2.?Apply the voyage database to sample boats : number the boats and arrange them into groups, so users could look up the working area and time of a specific boat, area, or working mode.
3.?Import satellite data into database for query: import digitized satellite data(ex: ocean surface temperature, ocean surface chlorophyll, etc.) into database, so that the database could be queried directly. This function could save a lot of time for fishery researchers to access these information, and promote fishery researches in our country.
4.?Feasibility study of the combination of GIS, statistics software, and database: develop an interface to integrate GIS, statistics software, and database in order to provide the information to fishery related personnel with a more efficient process through statistics, synthesis, and analysis.
5.?Review the fishery resource system with voyage, catch, and fishing ground environment and see how this system shall work to meet the needs of fishery personnel. Further discussion of how these factors could be applied to manage fishery resources is also included.
The developed results of item 1, 2 and 4 have been apply on the missions of “annual statistic report of the inshore fishery”. With the use of the above mentioned technology the hot spots where fishing boats appear frequently are found out. In the similar way, the ships used to collect the catches around the hot spot are selected. Next, accompany with the other researchers the numerous number of voyage data analysis are carried out, and with which the precise location of the catches is confirmed.
The system developed in this study includes: voyage data, catch data, and the data of fishing ground environment, meanwhile these data are integrated with geometric information software so that it provides information enquiry, data comparison and etc. Among these data,? voyage data, and fishing ground environment data can be updated and accumulated automatically. However, the catches data are collected by the individual fishing boat, which needs enormous man power and cost, and cannot perform the automatic update operation. Therefore, to build a automatic catches acquirement system becomes to a crucial topic for the further research. |
