Oyster industries being performed along the coast of Taiwan are one of the most important aquacultures of Taiwan. The output in 2005 was about 3 billion NT dollars, covered large part of the incomes of shore villages. These two years, some of the farmers complained the occasional occures of mass mortality of the culture oysters. It might have been caused by industrial pollution, or be the natural phenomena of seasonal mortality. Investigating the factors responsible to the mass mortality in so large area of sea water, the archives of longtime surveyed data are necessary for references. Along the coasts of Yun-Lin, we will survey periodically the health and reproduction condition of cultured oysters, qualities of water and substrate, and diversities of planktons to establish a data base for monitoring conditions of the cultures. |
