Although research activities are still going on, results so far obtained by executing the project are as follows: (1) Daily rings study, in cooperation with Spanish scientist, on otoliths of North Atlantic juvenile albacore (published at SCRS/06/109); (2) Age and growth of South Atlantic albacore resource (published at SCRS/06/110); (3) stock structure study on Indian sword fish by mt-DNA sequence characters (published at Zoological Studies 45(2): 269-279); (4) the revised growth parameters for South Atlantic albacore indicated an increase of about 2000 mt in MSY by ASPM model as compared to the old growth parameters or the adopted growth parameters from the North albacore stock; and (5) Acquisition technology developed for the Atlantic and the Indian Oceans’ monthly sea surface temperature profile and catch rate and size distribution of albacore in the Atlantic and swordfish in the Indian Oceans, respectively. |
