The ICCAT/SSCRS was scheduled in 2011 to have an assessment on the southern stock of albacore resource in the Atlantic Ocean. The main purppose of this research proposal is thus to provide the best biologica parameters and fisheries catch and effort statistics of Taiwanese distant long line vessels fished in the South Atlantic Ocean. The main tasks of this project are : (1) to standardize, based on 1982-2009 Taiwanese distant long line fisheries’ catch and effort statistics in the Atlantic, the historic trend of abundance indices of the southern albacore stock; (2) to convert, based on age and growth equation, on Taiwanese CAS (catch at size) into CAA (catch in age) of 1982-2009 Taiwanese albacore harvested in the South Atlantic; and (3) to assess, mainly by using single stock assessment models, the southern Atlantic albacore stock current conditions baed on the aforementioned biological parameters and fisheries catch and effort statistics |
