Fishery data of Atlantic tropical and Pacific bluefin tunas by Taiwanese longline fleet are very sustantial for standardizing abundance index used in assessing stock status. However, several analyses have resulted in that those data of Atlantic tropical tunas were not informative, and obtaining an overestimation of standing stock status. Therefore, in order to comply with the schedules of RFMOs' stock assessments, Estimation of abundnace indices to incorporate with other indices provided by other fishing nations in pursuing stock status assessments of tropical tunas are the most important tasks. Thus, two workplans were provided in the project, studies to develop abundance indiex for Atlantic bigeye tuna and for Pacific bluefin tuna, and to develop catch at length and catch at age for Pacific bluefin tuna. |
