The incidental catch of seabirds by longlinefisheries was noticed in early 1990s by international society. For conservationpurposes, Food and Agriculture, United nations adopted the International Plan ofAction to reducing the incidental catch of seabirds by longline fisheries in 1999.In addition, Taiwan adopted the National Plan of Action for to reducing the incidentalcatch of seabirds by longline fisheries in 2006. The NPOA introduced the tuna longlinefisheries status of Taiwan, the analysis of incidental catch of seabirds by Taiwanesefleets, efforts and measures for reducing seabirds bycatch and related appendix.This project updated the management and conservation measures from regional fisheriesmanagement organizations, summarize the updated analysis of seabirds bycatch andimplemented seabirds conservation measures of Taiwan in recent years and providethe future actions. |
