1.Taiwan, Lithuania sign MOU to bolster agricultural cooperation
Taiwan and Lithuania signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on June 16th that seeks to bolster cooperation and exchanges between the two countries in the field of agriculture. The MOU was inked in Taipei by Taiwan's representative to Lithuania Eric Huangand Paulius Lukauskas, head of the Lithuanian Trade Representative Office in Taiwan, the Council of Agriculture (COA) said in a news release. The signing ceremony was witnessed by COA Deputy Minister Tu Wen-jane and visiting Lithuanian Vice Agriculture Minister Vytenis Tomkus.
2. Record bluefin catch at Taiwan's Xingang Harbor
Taitung’s Xingang Fishing Harbor is reporting a bumper harvest of bluefin tuna, with more than 70 tuna caught in the eastern waters of Lanyu Island, setting a single day record in the history of the fishing port. Typically, the bluefin fishing season should have ended by now, though a number of fishermen say that the catch has been increasing, potentially due to the passage of Typhoon Mawar.
