1. New Taiwanese pineapple gains approval in Japan: The Taiwan Agricultural Research Institute has received temporary intellectual property protection for a new pineapple variety it developed in 2019, after registering the cultivar with the Japanese Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries last year, the institute said on Tuesday. The new variety, named Tainung No. 23, was developed by the institute’s Chiayi Agricultural Experiment Station.
2. The Fisheries Agency (FA·COA) offers subsidy for small types of technical fishing gears: To promote energy-efficient aquaculture industry, the Fisheries Agency (FA·COA) is offering subsidy to assist cover half of the cost of each equipment. The deadline for application is May 31.
3. The 2th annual Taoyuan French Hydrangea Festival: The month-long festival at the TaiQiTaoHuaYuan Leisure Agriculture Area in Taoyuan’s mountainous Fusing District runs until June 5.
