1. Extended 5-month crab ban begins for breeding season: The Council of Agriculture’s ban on the capture or sale of female crabs carrying fertilized eggs went into effect on August 1, and is to last until the end of the year, covering their peak breeding season.
2. Yunlin expo presents local agriculture: The Yunlin Agricultural Design Expo in Beigang Township opened on July 30, offering 500 hands-on classes over the next two weeks.
3. Taitung vows to punish firm over damaged coral: The Taitung County Government vowed to punish a construction company to the furthest extent of the law for failing to cease operations after its boat allegedly destroyed protected coral near Green Island repeatedly. The Taitung County Government also asked the company to restore the corals.
