1. President offers prayers through orchids bearing Turkey flag design
President Tsai Ing-wen offered her thoughts and prayers to Turkey in a social media post spotlighting a bunch of orchids bearing the design of the national flag of Turkey.The orchids, which are in red-and-white colors and sport the star and crescent of the Turkish flag, were sent to the Presidential Office building by the Taiwan Orchid Growers Association. In the comments section, the president also shared information about the 2023 Taiwan International Orchid Show to be held at the Taiwan Orchid Technology Park in Tainan's Houbi District from March 4 to March 19, inviting people to support local florists by visiting the exhibition.
2. Agriculture minister anticipates end to egg shortage by late March
Council of Agriculture Minister Chen Chi-chung on March1st said he anticipated an end to the national egg shortage in Taiwan by late March, after the government introduced short and long-term measures to address the problem. Furthermore, the COA has earmarked NT$1.8 billion (US$60 million) this year to help local poultry farms renovate and modernize their operations.
