1. Premier Cho Jung-tai Visits Penghu to Inspect Fishing Port Construction
On the 23rd, Premier Cho Jung-tai visited Penghu to inspect the construction of fishing ports. He emphasized the importance of ensuring the safety of fishermen’s operations and instructed the Ministry of Agriculture to prioritize safety measures at fishing ports, particularly for post-typhoon restoration projects. The central government will also provide support in terms of funding and manpower for these efforts. Additionally, regarding the 4-year "Penghu County Marine Industry Program," he called on the Penghu County Government and the County Council to provide feedback on priority initiatives that align with local needs.
2. MOA Opens Training for Public to Remove Green Iguanas
Green iguanas have been causing ecological damage as they spread across central and southern Taiwan. The Ministry of Agriculture estimates that there are approximately 200,000 green iguanas across the island, with the highest populations found in Tainan, Kaohsiung, and Pingtung. On the 22nd, the Forestry and Nature Conservation Agency of the Ministry of Agriculture held a meeting with several local governments to address the challenges in removing green iguanas and propose improvement plans. The aim is to work together with local governments to reduce the iguana population.
