1.Taiwan, St. Lucia discuss climate change at bilateral meeting
Saint Lucian Prime Minister Philip Pierre and President Tsai Ing-wen held a bilateral meeting on November 29th to explore cooperation on tackling climate change and other challenges. The discussions touched on the international situation and issues of mutual concern, including climate change, agriculture, youth economy, housing assistance and digital transformation, according to Tsai, who hosted a military salute to welcome Pierre and his delegation ahead of the bilateral meeting.
2. COA highlights Taiwan's food security in face of Russo-Ukrainian War
The COVID-19 pandemic, geopolitical tensions, and climate change had exacerbated food insecurity globally, including in Taiwan. Council of Agriculture sought to assuage food security concerns in Taiwan, saying current stockpiles were enough to feed the country for one year. COA also highlighted the government's "Zero Hunger" program, saying the initiative had helped roughly 80,000 people with subsidies and donations of food since it began earlier this year.
