1. China suspends beer, kaoliang liquor, beverage imports from Taiwan
China has announced another ban of Taiwan beer, Kinmen kaoliang sorghum liquor and other beverage products, just two days after Taiwanese seafood exporters found themselves locked out of the Chinese market. Premier Su Tseng-chang said China's ban on shipments of Taiwan-made beer, liquor and beverage by using administrative barriers contravened the rules of the World Trade Organization (WTO), and Taiwan's government will communicate with the relevant Chinese authorities to resolve the unfavorable situation.
2.Rebuilt Nanfang'ao Bridge opens with president on hand
The rebuilt Nanfang'ao Bridge in Yilan County opened to traffic on December 18th .President Tsai Ing-wen said there were numerous challenges in rebuilding the bridge. Now that the bridge has opened to traffic, Tsai said it would help boost the local economy and tourism activity while also improving the port's traffic. She also mentioned that its unique mackerel shape will make it an important landmark in the community that lets fishermen know they have arrived home when they return to Nanfang'ao.
