1.Taiwan, Guatemala discuss agricultural trade at bilateral meeting
President Tsai Ing-wen and her Guatemalan counterpart Alejandro Giammattei held bilateral talks in Taipei on April 25th . Relations between the two countries, according to Giammattei, have been based on steady and long-term diplomatic engagement, and broad cooperation on agricultural trade, education and other issues. Tsai thanked Giammattei for his staunch support for Taiwan, adding that she looked forward to seeing bilateral cooperation in various fields deepened in the future.2. COA proposes doubling number of migrant workers in agricultural sector
Council of Agriculture (COA) Minister Chen Chi-chung announced that the Ministry of Labor (MOL) has agreed to be on board with a proposal to increase the number of migrant workers in the agricultural industry from 6,000 to 12,000. However, Chen did not disclose how long the proposal will have to be discussed by the government before receiving final approval.
