1. Taiwan urges release of boat caught fishing illegally in Chinese waters
On July 3rd, Government officials called for the immediate release of a Taiwanese vessel and its crew caught illegally fishing in Chinese waters night. At a news conference, Vice Premier Cheng Li-chiun said the government was "highly concerned" about the seizure of the Penghu-registered Da Jin Man No.88 and its two Taiwanese and three Indonesian crew. She added that Taiwan's Mainland Affairs Council (MAC) and Fisheries Agency were also assisting with the matter by engaging and coordinating through cross-strait channels. According to Taiwan's Coast Guard Administration (CGA), the Da Jin Man No. 88 was intercepted 11.2 nautical miles inside Chinese-controlled waters around 8 p.m. on July 2nd.
2. Milestone in Fruit Export: Taiwan Red-Flesh Dragon Fruit Enters Japanese Market
The Ministry of Agriculture, along with domestic production cooperatives, trade operators, and various units, have collaborated diligently. One month after Japan's approval announcement, the inaugural shipment of 6 metric tons of red-flesh dragon fruit completed quarantine processing. On July 3rd, the "Home Run Go Red-Flesh Dragon Fruit Towards Japan" press conference was held at the Fengyuan Quarantine Processing Facility. Vice Premier Cheng Li-chiun stated that after 8 years of effort and preparation, today marks a momentous occasion as we witness the red-flesh dragon fruit making its way to Japan. The Ministry of Agriculture pointed out that the breakthrough in exporting Taiwan's red-flesh dragon fruit is credited to the professionalism and dedication of Taiwanese farmers.
