1. Ministry of Agriculture Urges Agricultural and Fishery Sectors to Strengthen Cold Protection Measures
According to the Central Weather Administration, a strong cold air mass from Mainland China will move south on Monday, February 3. From Tuesday, February 4 to Wednesday, February 5, cold air will affect the area, causing cold weather in the early mornings and evenings. The Ministry of Agriculture urges farmers, fishery, livestock, and aquaculture industries, as well as hillside crop growers, to strengthen cold protection measures early to prevent damage and losses to crops, livestock, and aquatic products.
2. Fisheries Agency hosts Lunar New Year Greetings
With the end of the Lunar New Year holiday, the Fisheries Agency of the Ministry of Agriculture held a grand New Year gathering on the first working day of February 3. The event was conducted through a video connection between the northern and southern offices. The Taipei office was hosted by Director General Wang Maocheng, who invited former Deputy Minister of the Council of Agriculture, Hu Xinghua, Sha Zhiyi, as well as several former Fisheries Agency directors and deputy directors to join the celebration. In the southern office, Fisheries Human Resources Division Chief Xue Boyuan and Deputy Chief Yang Wenxian led the southern colleagues to exchange New Year greetings with northern officials and colleagues, wishing for a prosperous year and smooth progress in business operations during the Year of the Snake, while working to secure greater welfare for fishermen.
