1.Animal shelters to know violent, abusive people
A database of people with a history of domestic violence or animal abuse would be launched in July to be used as reference at animal shelters, Council of Agriculture(COA)said on May 10th. The project, to be conducted in collaboration with the Ministry of Health and Welfare, aims to reduce the incidence of animal abuse, COA’s Minister Chen Chi-chung told a committee meeting at the legislature to discuss proposed amendments to the Animal Protection
2. 6 people rescued after fishing boat catches fire northeast of Taiwan
A Taiwanese captain and 5 Indonesian crew members were rescued from a fishing vessel that caught fire 180 kilometers northeast of Taiwan On May 11th, according to the National Rescue Command Center (NRCC). The NRCC said it received a report that a fire of unknown origin had broken out on board the Su'ao registered Shuenfuyu No. 83. None of the boat's crew suffered any injuries, although four of those rescued were taken to hospital, the NRCC added.
