1.Work to recover 600 containers ongoing after ship sinks off Kaohsiung
Work continued to recover about 600 containers that fell into the ocean after the Palau-flagged ship Angel sank while anchored off Kaohsiung port, according to the Kaohsiung Branch of Taiwan International Ports Co. The company said it is working with Fisheries Agency, Kaohsiung City government, the Coast Guard Administration and Kaohsiung Harbor Bureau and 17 vessels were sent to retrieve the containers, many of which have been spotted floating in water off the city's Linyuan District and Donggang Township.
2.Truffle species discovered in eastern Taiwan named 'Tuber taitung'
A black truffle species native to Taiwan discovered in Taimali, a mountainous area of Taitung County, has been named "Tuber taitung", the governmental Taiwan Forestry Research Institute (TFRI) said. According to the TFRI, Tuber taitung was found at the lowest land point of all the truffle species discovered on the island so far, and this low-altitude habitat makes it suitable for research and artificial cultivation.
